Small dogs have spirit. Lots and lots of spirit. When I say ‘spirit’ what I actually mean (in our case anyway) is ‘naughtiness’. Lots and lots of loveable naughtiness. Sid is our 4 year old Chihuahua – Miniature Pinscher cross and has ‘naughtiness’ in abundance – he has to because he vies for our attention with two enormous Great Danes.

Part of his ‘spirited’ behaviour involves regular escape attempts by digging under the fence panels or attempting to squeeze through a small gap under our gate. We have tried every form of barricade from paving slabs to glass recycling crates, it works – but it doesn’t look too good!

So when our good friends PuddyPooch www.puddypooch.co.uk sent us one of their stylish puppy bumpers to review, we were really interested.

The first thing to say is that the package arrived promptly and beautifully wrapped in tissue paper together with a free bag of treats and a lovely handwritten note which was all tied together with ribbon.

Secondly, the product.  Puppy Bumpers is a very lightweight product which works by making it nigh on impossible for a small dog or puppy to squeeze through small gaps. We tried it on Sid who after a few minutes of familiarisation, continued his normal routine only this time without the risk of escape!

Puppy Bumpers are made in the USA and offer dog owners complete peace of mind as they prevent dogs from escaping through railings, fencing, decking balustrade, balconies and even under gates. As you can see from the photo, each Puppy Bumper attaches to a regular collar and fits around the dog’s neck.

The Puppy Bumpers come in four snazzy designs (we were sent the Rainbow Paws) and although they are not cheap, at £19.50 you get what you pay for, which in this case was a really high quality good looking product which solved the problem it was designed to address.

The PuddyPooch website too is really easy on the eye and they have lots of very cool and unusual products which you won’t find on the high street or on most other online sites. If you value style and individuality, you are sure to find something on the PuddyPooch website.

Based on our experience we would have no hesitation in recommending Puddy Pooch or the puppy bumpers!
